The Central Valley Academy Thunder came tearing into Friday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-57 win over Oneida. Given Central Valley Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Express are ranked 450th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Deacon Judd, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Judd is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 20 every time he's taken the court this season. Tom Jacquays was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Central Valley Academy pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points per game. As for Oneida, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Valley Academy will face off against the Black Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rome Free Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,343 points over their last 16 contests. Oneida will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th.
