Basketball Recap: Westmont Piles Up the Points Against Cristo Rey Jesuit

A well-balanced attack led Westmont over Cristo Rey Jesuit in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Westmont Sentinels blew the Cristo Rey Jesuit Cristeros out of the water with a 58-7 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-4.

Westmont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Danielle Hoover out in front who posted ten points and seven rebounds. Hoover is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Sadie Scales was another key player, putting up eight points and nine boards.

Westmont has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.1 points per game. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westmont will head out to square off against Northtown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westmont is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, they and Rochelle Zell Jewish will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.
