Santa Rosa has gone 9-1 against McCurdy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Bobcats at 3:00 p.m. Santa Rosa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 16.8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Santa Rosa got the win against Logan by a conclusive 21-1. The Lions have beaten the Longhorns the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Longhorns has come to flipping the script.
Melanie Madera was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Madera was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Santa Rosa got a massive performance out of Angelina Silva, who scored five runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. With that strong performance, Silva is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Leah Moncayo, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Santa Rosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, McCurdy didn't have quite enough to beat Mora on Monday and fell 13-11. The defeat continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Rangers/Rangerettes: they've now lost three in a row.
Cassandra Martinez and Karina Archuleta stepped up to the plate in a big way. Martinez scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Archuleta scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Archuleta is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Mariana Arambula was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Santa Rosa pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.2 runs over those games. As for McCurdy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Santa Rosa hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like McCurdy struggles in that department as they've averaged .418. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Santa Rosa took their victory against McCurdy when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 19-8 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
