Taylor Allderdice pushed the score to 43-22 by the end of the third, a deficit Mars cut but never quite recovered from.
Taylor Allderdice's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Asher Schwartz led the charge by scoring 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schwartz has scored all season. Pavle Slepcev was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
When it comes to explaining why Mars lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Ceh. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 44.4% of Mars' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austen Wroblewski, who scored ten points.
Even though they lost, Mars smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Taylor Allderdice has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Mars, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taylor Allderdice will take on Obama Academy of International Studies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Obama Academy of International Studies will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 420th, while Taylor Allderdice is ranked 39th). As for Mars, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Allegheny at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
