The Dighton Hornets put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Greeley County for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-36 victory at home. Dighton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.
Leading Dighton to victory were Daniel Cramer and Carson Shimer. Cramer scored 22 points along with three steals, while Shimer dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Shimer posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of George Von Leonrod, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Dighton's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Greeley County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dighton the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Quinter at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Hopefully Quinter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Greeley County, they will be playing at home against Wallace County on Monday.
