Riverview Sarasota got a good showing from Cole Gibson, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Riverview Sarasota saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caiden Cabral, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Sarasota got themselves on the board against Lehigh on Wednesday, but Lehigh never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Lightning. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sailors.
Braedon Mackay made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Mackay was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other pitching news, Mason Ondercin looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Mark Metcalf was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Patrick Drymon, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Sarasota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Riverview Sarasota came out on top in a nail-biter against Sarasota in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverview Sarasota since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
