Cascade is on an 18-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while West Vigo is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cadets will welcome the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cascade will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
On Saturday, Cascade got the win against Fishers by a conclusive 16-8. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Cascade got a massive performance out of Lacie Godby, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Allen, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Cascade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fishers only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, West Vigo got themselves on the board against Linton-Stockton on Monday, but Linton-Stockton never followed suit. They came out on top against the Miners by a score of 5-0.
Jaleigh Lindley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Grace Rodgers was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Cascade has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for West Vigo, their victory bumped their record up to 20-1.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cascade has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. However, it's not like West Vigo struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
