Basketball Recap: Westside Christian Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Heritage Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westside Christian Academy). They really took it to the Heritage Christian Patriots for the full four quarters, racking up an 85-46 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Westside Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Calvin Cottenden, who went 13-for-19 en route to 29 points along with eight boards and four blocks. That's the most blocks Cottenden has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trent Douglass, who went 8-for-13 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Westside Christian Academy pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points over those games. As for Heritage Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.

Coincidentally, Westside Christian Academy and Heritage Christian will both be playing Horizon Science Academy the next time they take the court. Westside Christian Academy will head out to face Horizon Science Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Heritage Christian will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on February 25th.
