On Saturday, the Malcolm Clippers's game was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They managed a 46-42 win over Platteview. That's another feather in the cap for Malcolm, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Carson Frank went supernova for Malcolm, scoring 23 points. Another player making a difference was Luke Schmidt, who scored nine points.
Platteview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Steele, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Staudt, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Malcolm's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Platteview, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.
Malcolm will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Scotus is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Platteview, they will be playing at home against the Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Nebraska City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Trojans are ranked 51st).
