The Mercy Monarchs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Lincoln Northwest by a score of 59-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mercy.
Mercy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Melina Nelson out in front who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that Nelson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Grzebielski, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Mercy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. As for Lincoln Northwest, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercy will challenge Brownell Talbot at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mercy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Lincoln Northwest, they will head out on the road to challenge Bennington at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln Northwest is coming into the contest with five straight losses on the road, meaning Bennington will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
