The Jacksonville Crimsons won the last time they faced the Cahokia Comanches, and things went their way on Friday too. Jacksonville came out on top against Cahokia by a score of 61-53. Given Jacksonville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Cahokia is ranked 509th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jacksonville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan McCombs, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McCombs has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Martinez, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Cahokia saw an underclassman step up: C'narri Griffin scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cortez Rose, who scored seven points.
The win got Jacksonville back to even at 11-11. As for Cahokia, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.
Jacksonville will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Cahokia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Centralia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
