If the Odyssey Institute Minotaur were feeling good off their 31-11 takedown of the Kingman Bulldogs last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Odyssey Institute took a 30-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of Horizon Honors on Thursday. The contest was a 13-13 toss-up at halftime, but Odyssey Institute was outscored by Horizon Honors in the second.
Despite the loss, Odyssey Institute still got an impressive performance from Shelby Hunt, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Hunt scored a full 52.2% of Odyssey Institute's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Horizon Honors was led to victory by Audriana Anglada and Josie Barden. Anglada scored 11 points along with five rebounds, while Barden scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Barden has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mezaan Crosby, who scored three points.
Odyssey Institute's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Horizon Honors, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Odyssey Institute will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Arizona Lutheran Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arizona Lutheran Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Odyssey Institute in Arizona (Arizona Lutheran Academy is ranked 82nd, while Odyssey Institute is ranked 231st). Horizon Honors and Glendale Prep Academy will round out the year against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Glendale Prep Academy is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
