There's no place like home for the Avon Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They snuck past Steele with a 51-47 win on Wednesday. This was payback for Avon, who suffered a 59-56 loss the last time these two teams met.
Molly Drenik was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Owens, who scored nine points.
Avon's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Steele, they bumped their record down to 7-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Avon will face off against Avon Lake at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Avon Lake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Avon in Ohio (Avon Lake is ranked 17th, while Avon is ranked 173rd). As for Steele, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Ridgeville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Ridgeville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
