Anna Ostertag made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vanessa Bartel, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Allina Mendoza, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Wabasha-Kellogg came out on top against Chatfield on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Falcons walked away with a 12-9 win over the Gophers. Surprisingly, this marked the Falcons' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Kenyon-Wanamingo pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wabasha-Kellogg, their record is now 7-5.
Kenyon-Wanamingo might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Wabasha-Kellogg in their previous meeting back in May of 2015. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
