Baseball Recap: Hulbert Comes Up Short

Hulbert lost against Mounds back in April of 2017, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Hulbert came up short against Mounds, falling 10-2.

Ethan Thompson put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Thompson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dusty Tedder, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Hulbert's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Mounds, they moved to 5-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Hulbert will challenge Oaks-Mission at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mounds, they will face off against Okemah at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
