Elizabeth extended the longest winning streak in 3A Metro - East this week by beating Weld Central, 42-8. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Cardinals.
The Rebels fell to Elizabeth 42-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tyler Nebelsick ran for 70 yards in the defeat.
Brandon Beshore made the biggest impact on defense this week as Chris Cline's team defeated Michael Brown's team. The 6-foot-0 senior grabbed 1 interception.
Brody Oliver threw for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 7-13 with 0 interceptions.
Oliver and Jordan Bucknam gave the Cardinals a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Teammate Oliver added to the ground attack by rushing for 74 yards.
Vista PEAK Prep's Noah Butler and DJ Ortiz have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Butler has thrown for 1,699 yards this season, while Ortiz has 41 catches for 676 yards. Nick Bersagel from Englewood leads the league in rushing with 1,183 yards.
Fort Morgan made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,930 from 8,287. The advance stemmed from a 29-18 victory over the Bison last week.
