The Youngker Roughriders will venture away from home to take on the Cibola Raiders at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Youngker has given up an average of 17.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Youngker is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 24-21 victory over Paradise Valley on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Roughriders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Youngker got a massive performance out of Adriana Mendiola, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Mendiola a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anamarie Rodriguez, who went 2-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Youngker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Cibola posted their closest win since March 12, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over Kofa. The win was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on four straight.
Eliana Corea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Cibola's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jizelle Robles, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Youngker's record is now 5-12. As for Cibola, their record now sits at 12-14.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Youngker hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Cibola struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
