Guyer faced Lewisville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Farmers 47-21. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Guyer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Morgan, who threw for 258 yards and one touchdown on only 17 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those 258 passing yards gave Morgan a new career-high. Zane Rowe was in the mix as well, providing Guyer with one TD.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Guyer's defense and their six sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as six different players picked up one apiece. They received some extra help from Rowe, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Despite the loss, Lewisville still got an impressive performance from Derrick 'Dj' Martin Iii, who rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. 'Dj' Martin Iii's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
Guyer pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points over those games. As for Lewisville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
