The Grand Junction Tigers struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Saturday (the Palisade Bulldogs were 21% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Grand Junction took a 45-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Palisade. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Grand Junction in their matchups with Palisade: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Grand Junction saw an underclassman step up: Hadyn Bunnell scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Palisade's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sadie Bunker, who scored 12 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bunker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Simons, who scored 12 points.
Grand Junction bumped their record down to 4-7 with that loss, which was their 13th straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.0 points per game. As for Palisade, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Grand Junction will head out on the road to challenge Eagle Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eagle Valley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Palisade, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fruita Monument at 6:00 p.m. Fruita Monument is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.1 points per game.
