Western Indiana recap October 8, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to South Vermillion, who defeated 112th ranked Northview, 14-13. Jordan Branz threw for 114 yards and ran for 69 yards in the win.
Brown County scaled the state rankings by moving to 197 from 226 this week, the biggest jump in Western Indiana. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Sullivan 30-12.
Michael Willis threw for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 17-29 with 2 interceptions.
Gabe Koontz was a force in the backfield as Edgewood fell to Cascade.
Willis put up the best numbers in passing as the Golden Arrows fell to Brown County. Willis' favorite target this week was Michael Hutchcraft, who caught 3 passes for 116 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Willis of Sullivan is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,409. He has also thrown 16 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Seth Sparks. The Owen Valley star has 36 catches for 573 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Trent Olson's team and the Wildcats face off next week.
At the moment, the Mustangs are in sixth, while Ethan Schreiber's team is in second.
South Vermillion was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fifth in the league. Chuck Sorrell's team beat the Knights 14-13 earlier in the week.
