West Phoenix suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 83-41 loss at the hands of Imagine Prep. West Phoenix has not had much luck with Imagine Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Meanwhile, Southwest Leadership Academy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They breezed by Alta Vista Charter at home to the tune of 56-23. Southwest Leadership Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
Southwest Leadership Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Serious Sykes led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 19 rebounds. Sykes is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Ayden Gonzales was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
West Phoenix's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-10. As for Southwest Leadership Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
