Even though King William scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Carver College and Career Academy still came out on top. Given Carver College and Career Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while King William is ranked 349th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carver College and Career Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Hill, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine steals. Hill has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyson Marsh, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past King William 79-59. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded Thomas Jefferson with their most commanding win of the season.
Cameron Sampson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaymon Harris, who scored 11 points.
Carver College and Career Academy pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Thomas Jefferson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.
