Basketball Game Preview: Whites Creek Cobras vs. East Nashville Magnet Eagles

Whites Creek and East Nashville Magnet are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. The Whites Creek Cobras will face off against the East Nashville Magnet Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Whites Creek sitting on seven straight wins and East Nashville Magnet on four.

Last Tuesday, Whites Creek earned a 60-50 victory over Stratford. Given the Cobras' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Spartans are ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whites Creek can attribute much of their success to Noah Hughes, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points and four steals, and Malachi Benton, who went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points. That's the most points Hughes has posted since back in November of 2023. Eric Bryson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, East Nashville Magnet made easy work of RePublic on Tuesday and carried off a 78-57 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Whites Creek has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for East Nashville Magnet, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-9.

Whites Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against East Nashville Magnet in their previous meeting on January 14th, sneaking past 37-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whites Creek since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
