The Au Gres-Sims Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Hillman 70-24. While losing is never fun, Au Gres-Sims can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 725th, while Hillman is ranked 244th).
It was another big night for Trenton Taratuta, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 12 rebounds for Hillman. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Taratuta has scored at least a third of Hillman's points. Brenden Rouleau was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six steals.
Au Gres-Sims has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Hillman, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Au Gres-Sims will take on Hale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hillman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Atlanta at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Atlanta comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
