Baseball Game Preview: Oakwood Comets vs. Casey-Westfield Warriors

Oakwood has gone a perfect 3-0 against Casey-Westfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Oakwood Comets will challenge the Casey-Westfield Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Casey-Westfield took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Oakwood, who comes in off a win.

While Comets fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Monday's season opener. They had just enough and edged out Villa Grove 3-2.

Chase Harrison was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Harrison wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Loudyn Hughes, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Hughes has posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Casey-Westfield fell victim to North Clay/Clay City and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Clay/Clay City. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with North Clay/Clay City: they've now lost five in a row.

Oakwood beat Casey-Westfield 7-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will Oakwood repeat their success, or does Casey-Westfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
