Basketball Recap: Attica Piles Up the Points Against Cunningham

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Attica). They claimed a resounding 69-35 victory over the Cunningham Wildcats. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Attica's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zoie Redgate, who went 7 for 17 en route to 24 points along with five assists and three steals. Redgate has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 33 times she's played. Liberty Swingle was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Redgate wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Attica was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Cunningham's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ellie Mcguire, who posted eight points and five boards, and Grace Hageman, who had seven points. Morgan Oldham also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Attica pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Cunningham, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Attica won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Stafford at 6:00 p.m. on February 21st. As for Cunningham, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Macksville at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
