After a string of three wins, the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 70-38 loss at the hands of Page. While losing is never fun, Bourgade Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Page is ranked 30th).
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Juliet Botiller, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. Botiller scored a full 68.4% of Bourgade Catholic's points, the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Arismendez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Bourgade Catholic has fallen quite a ways from their 21-4 record last season and are now at 5-8. As for Page, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Bourgade Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Northwest Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Page, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chinle at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
