The Curtis Baptist Crusaders can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Community Christian Academy with a sharp 65-45 win. Given Curtis Baptist's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Ambassadors are ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Curtis Baptist got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chas Beasley out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists. It was the first time this season that Beasley posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Wiltrez (Trez) Mincey, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Community Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Colton Betosky scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Ramsey, who scored seven points.
Curtis Baptist's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Community Christian Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Curtis Baptist will take on the Stallions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Community Christian Academy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Raiders at 7:21 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Jefferson Davis Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Monday.
