The East Laurens Falcons''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Bleckley County at home and fell 42-13. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Laurens in their matchups with Bleckley County: they've now lost six in a row.
Zay Boston threw for 85 yards on six of 11 attempts. Terez Snead was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Bleckley County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Stanley led the charge by rushing for 63 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Beck, who gained 47 total yards and two touchdowns.
East Laurens' defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Bleckley County, Bacon County, and Johnson County. As for Bleckley County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
East Laurens will head out on the road to face off against Dublin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dublin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Laurens in Georgia (Dublin is ranked 131st, while East Laurens is ranked 335th). As for Bleckley County, they will be playing at home against Swainsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Swainsboro is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
