The Wellington Eagles and the Berthoud Spartans squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Wellington Eagles had to settle for second. Wellington was dealt a 38-6 defeat at the hands of Berthoud. Wellington's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Leading Berthoud to victory were Darin Davidson and Alex Larson. Davidson threw for 101 yards and two touchdowns, while Larson rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Berthoud also got a significant boost from Ben Larson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
Wellington's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Berthoud, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Wellington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Berthoud will head out on the road to face off against Moffat County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Moffat County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
