Chambersburg is 2-8 against Cumberland Valley since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Chambersburg Trojans will square off against the Cumberland Valley Eagles at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chambersburg was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Carlisle on Wednesday. Chambersburg never let Carlisle get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Thundering Herd: they've now won five in a row.
R Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Mills was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Chambersburg let K Barclay and E Brown run wild. Barclay went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Brown went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was A Basquez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Chambersburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlisle only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Cumberland Valley earned a 7-3 victory over Central York on Tuesday.
The team relied heavily on Alex Crosby, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Lloyd, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
The win got Chambersburg back to even at 1-1. As for Cumberland Valley, their record is now 2-0.
Chambersburg suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Cumberland Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Chambersburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
