Branson/Kim extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Will Doherty. The Bearcats simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the La Veta Redhawks 70-16 with plenty of help from Doherty, who rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 67 receiving yards and one score. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 57 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Branson/Kim's defense and their four sacks. Collin Doherty was especially locked on to La Veta's QB and sacked him twice. Will got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Branson/Kim's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for La Veta, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Looking ahead, Branson/Kim will host Sierra Grande at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bearcats will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for La Veta, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Caliche at 6:00 p.m. on the 17th.
