The Meade Mustangs won the last time they faced the Annapolis Panthers, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Meade enjoyed a cozy 64-45 victory over Annapolis. Given Meade's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Annapolis is ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meade's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Johnson, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Josh Holmes, who scored 14 points.
Meade has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Annapolis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
Meade and Glen Burnie will face off at 6:45 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Annapolis, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South River at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. South River will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
