Curwensville hasn't had much luck against West Branch recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Curwensville will welcome West Branch at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
West Branch will be up against a hot Curwensville team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Curwensville never let Redbank Valley get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Monday. Give the Golden Tide's pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Addison Siple made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Natalie Wischuck was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Briah Peoples was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, West Branch waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Highlanders.
Like Curwensville, West Branch also got a great game from a two-way player: Makena Moore. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Moore was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layla Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Mactavish, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
West Branch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambria Heights only posted a batting average of .167.
West Branch's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Curwensville, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Curwensville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 13.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like West Branch struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Curwensville suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to West Branch when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will Curwensville have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
