This season hasn't been kind to The Heritage Patriots, who are still winless after their ninth game. They took a serious blow against Rancho Verde on Friday, falling 37-7. Heritage was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-0.
Dylan Riley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rancho Verde, rushing for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Riley's longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards.
Heritage's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.8 points per game. As for Rancho Verde, the win was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage will challenge JW North at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rancho Verde, they will head out on the road to face off against Orange Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Orange Vista is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
