Two dominant signal callers in Carson Rasmussen and Frederick Ta?ai are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After each having a week off, The Pleasant Grove Vikings and the Herriman Mustangs will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on October 27th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Pleasant Grove faced Lehi in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pleasant Grove fell 35-28 to Lehi. It was the first time this season that Pleasant Grove let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Pleasant Grove got a solid performance out of Tu'alau Wolfgramm, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Wolfgramm's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Another player making a difference was Tanner Blake, who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Herriman suffered a rough 45-24 defeat at the hands of Corner Canyon on Friday. Herriman was down 45-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite their loss, Herriman saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ta?ai, who threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground, was perhaps the best of all. Kaden Hansen was another key contributor, picking up 131 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Pleasant Grove's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. Herriman has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Pleasant Grove lost to Herriman at home by a decisive 21-3 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2017. Will Pleasant Grove have more luck at home instead of on the road?
