Two dominant guards in Kya Newton and Addy Horsley are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Mountain Ridge Sentinels will host the Bingham Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mountain Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.
If Mountain Ridge beats Bingham with 56 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Mountain Ridge strolled past Riverton with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 56-40.

Mountain Ridge relied on the efforts of Kaylee Montgomery, who went 6 for 10 en route to 17 points and three steals, and Jessica Maynard, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Maynard has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Newton, who posted eight points.
Mountain Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bingham faced Copper Hills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Bingham took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Copper Hills. The Miners haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Mountain Ridge will have to contain Lena Casperson as she made an impact in Bingham's last game. She went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evalyn Roberts, who had five points and three steals.
Mountain Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Bingham, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mountain Ridge has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Bingham struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Mountain Ridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Bingham in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 58-55. Does Mountain Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bingham turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
