The third road game was the charm for the Crow Creek Chieftains, as they earned their first road win of the season. They blew past Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 67-36 on the road on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Crow Creek also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte saw an underclassman step up: Suni Bowman dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Bowman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Buffalo-halfred, who scored six points along with three steals and two blocks.
Crow Creek has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Crow Creek will take on Pine Ridge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Crow Creek is facing Pine Ridge at the right time seeing as Pine Ridge is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, they will head out on the road to square off against Winner at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Winner is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.
