State championship weekend in Mississippi high school football continued Saturday.
In Class 4A, Corinth (14-1) raced past Poplarville (9-6) 55-21. The Warriors led 34-7 at halftime and were never threatened as quarterback D.T. Sheffield ran for 220 yards, threw for 164 more and accounted for five touchdowns.
Taylorsville (15-1) is the 2A champion after a 49-18 dismantling of North Side (14-1). The Tartars also won a state title in 2017.
Three high school football state champions were crowned in Mississippi on Friday.
Oxford (14-1) is the Class 6A champion after beating Oak Grove (11-4) 31-21. After trailing 21-3 at halftime, Oxford outscored Oak Grove 28-0 in the second half.
In the Class 3A final, Jefferson Davis County knocked off Noxubee County 25-15.
Nanih Waiya beat Lumberton 28-13 to capture the 1A hardware.
