After six games on the road, Ville Platte is heading back home. The Ville Platte Bulldogs and the Opelousas Tigers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Ville Platte knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Opelousas likes a good challenge.
Ville Platte pushed their score all the way to 58 last Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 91-58 to Washington-Marion, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Ville Platte was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 59-33.
Meanwhile, Opelousas was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 56-52 to Northwest. While losing is never fun, Opelousas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Northwest is ranked 32nd).
Ville Platte has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Opelousas, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Ville Platte lost to Opelousas at home by a decisive 88-72 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Ville Platte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
