The Clinton Prairie Gophers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 55-30 walloping at the hands of Seeger. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Clinton Prairie has suffered since December 1, 2023.
Despite the loss, Clinton Prairie still got an impressive performance from Hyleigh Wilson, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Shockley, who scored eight points.
Seeger was led to victory by Rylea Wetz and Cadence White. Wetz dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while White scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points White has scored all season. Caleigh Purcell was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Clinton Prairie has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Seeger, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton Prairie will take on Western Boone at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Western Boone is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Seeger, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tri-County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
