The Westwood Panthers's six-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 56-35 margin over John Carroll Catholic. Westwood's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Among those leading the charge was Jihla Greer, who scored 14 points along with three steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydah Reynolds, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Westwood's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-11. As for John Carroll Catholic, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood will stay at home for another game and welcome South Fork at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. South Fork comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. John Carroll Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Somerset College Prep Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th. Somerset College Prep Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than John Carroll Catholic in Florida (Somerset College Prep Academy is ranked 150th, while John Carroll Catholic is ranked 394th).
