Berkner is 2-8 against Pearce since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Berkner Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Pearce Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Berkner posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They had just enough and edged Nimitz out 43-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Berkner.
Pearce can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 51-32 win over MacArthur. Given Pearce's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while MacArthur is ranked 1052nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pearce's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Walters, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Walters has scored at least a third of Pearce's points. Another player making a difference was Tatum Vroonland, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Berkner now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Pearce, the win also got them back to even at 12-12.
Berkner took a serious blow against Pearce in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 53-26. Can Berkner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
