The Miller City Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Elida Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Miller City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Miller City is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since March 29th on Thursday. They came up short against North Baltimore, falling 10-3. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Morgan Verhoff was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey David, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Elida entered their tilt with Kenton on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Bulldogs have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Lilly Sifrit made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Elida got a big performance out of Maddie Kill, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Liv Walters, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Elida kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in three consecutive games.
The win got Elida back to even at 5-5. As for Miller City, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Miller City might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Elida in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
