The Algonac Muskrats will venture away from home to face off against the Almont Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Algonac was able to grind out a solid victory over Yale, taking the game 5-2. The win continues a trend for the Muskrats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.
Morgan Reams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.
At the plate, Jaycee Reams was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Layna Kunnath, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Almont hadn't done well against St. Clair recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Saints. The win was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won three matchups in a row.
The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Bunch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Almont pushed their record up to 6-6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Algonac, the victory got them back to even at 11-11-1.
Algonac was able to grind out a solid win over Almont in their previous meeting back in June of 2023, winning 7-3. Do the Muskrats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
