There's no place like home for the Oak Harbor Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Lakewood by a score of 66-57 on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Lakewood saw an underclassman step up: Leiana Riveira scored 19 points along with two steals. Riveira is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Frankee Powers, who scored seven points along with eight assists.
The victory got Oak Harbor back to even at 4-4. As for Lakewood, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Harbor will take on Meridian at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakewood, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Squalicum at 7:15 p.m. on January 25th. Squalicum will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
