The Tabb Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. Their tough 61-36 loss to Bruton might stick with them for a while. Tabb has not had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
James Mueller and Micah Marbra certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Mueller scored eight points along with three steals, while Marbra scored nine points. Torrion Haywood was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Bruton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Freeman, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Freeman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khamani Phillips, who scored eight points along with three blocks and two steals.
Tabb has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Bruton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.
Tabb will head out on the road to take on the Crimson Wave at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bruton, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. York will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Panthers are ranked 91st).
