On Friday, the Ellison Eagles's game was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They beat Waco by a goal, winning 3-2. Given Ellison's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Waco is ranked 649th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ellison was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Ava Nautu and
Alejandra Lopez Kelly, who scored all three of Ellison's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 18 so far this season.
Ellison is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6-2 record this season. As for Waco, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
Ellison will be playing at home against Lake Belton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Waco, they will head out on the road to square off against University at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. University will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Waco surely won't give up without a fight.
