Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for Wilkes-Barre, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Nazareth Area 42-6 on Friday. Wilkes-Barre was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.
JAKE HOWE threw for 91 yards and a touchdown. JOVAN GOODWIN was his top target, picking up 46 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, HOWIE SHINER rushed for 56 yards.
Nazareth Area was led to victory by Marquez Wimberly and Jed Bendekovits. Wimberly rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Bendekovits rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Wilkes-Barre's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Nazareth Area, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Wilkes-Barre does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Nazareth Area will play host again and welcome Northampton, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Friday. Northampton is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
