Kaufer's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Mascorro, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Mascorro has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. Cesar Silva was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five assists.
La Villa's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-25. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Kaufer, their win bumped their record up to 11-18.
Coincidentally, La Villa and Kaufer will both be playing Santa Maria the next time they take the court. La Villa will head out to face Santa Maria at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Kaufer will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
